I build and research AI, write about what I'm learning, and spend most of my free time swimming, reading, or with my dog.
For the past five years I've worked at the intersection of AI research and real-world systems. My work has ranged from training computer vision models that changed how a team of pathologists approached their work, to building generative AI systems that introduced new data processing techniques and agent patterns using models from leading providers like OpenAI and Anthropic.
Today I spend my time building agentic systems, helping teams work with them effectively, and writing about what I learn along the way.
I genuinely enjoy sharing what I learn and I find I understand things better when I sit down and put those findings into words. I also care deeply about helping people navigate an industry that's moving faster every day and impacting everyone, regardless of their technical background.
My goal is to explain what's happening behind the scenes with AI, make technical concepts feel accessible, and help people feel more confident in a field that can feel overwhelming from the outside.
I grew up swimming competitively and still love it — it's actually how I met my fiancé! Swimming is how I unplug and push myself in ways that carry over into everything else. I love open water swimming and have competed in events like the Catalina Channel crossing. I'm always signing up for the next thing that scares me a little.
I find that setting goals outside my comfort zone keeps me accountable and helps me grow. When I'm not in the water I'm usually reading, or spending time with friends, family, and my German Shepherd, Portia.
